Report of meeting on 6th August 2024

Membership update – we now have 504 members. Data held on the Beacon system was discussed.

Group Leader Co-ordinator report – a Group Leader meeting is scheduled for Monday 30th September 2024. A new schedule on Group meetings has been distributed to trustees and a copy is on the Notice Board. 

u3a week – more discussions about u3a week. I have negotiated with the Manager of Kingswinford Market, who has stated that we can have a stall, at no cost to our u3a. Plans are in hand for this to take place on Thursday 26th September. All Committee members will support this event. Promotional material will be ordered. Groups will be encouraged to participate during the week. 

Newsletter – The Editor has enough material for the September/October edition. 

Other business

A new Chair of Third Age Trust has been appointed - Alan Walmsley (formerly Vice-Chair). This is a voluntary post. A new CEO, Ian Cassidy, has also been appointed. He was previously CEO of Open Age.

A new Activities Agreement form was discussed and will be presented at the Group Leaders meeting in September.

Social Events were discussed for the coming months, in detail. Further information can be found on the Events page on this website.

Trustees and Officers are elected by members for three-year terms at an AGM. The Chair and Vice-Chair must stand-down at the end of their term. Other trustees and officers may be re-elected for a further term or terms.

In addition, other members perform a number of jobs to assist the smooth running of the u3a, including:

  • Group Leaders
  • STARS – Small Tasks As Required such as taking the money etc at Speaker Meetings and Coffee Mornings
  • Running Day Trips
  • Website Manager and Beacon Database Admin (Ian Scott)
